Tamuna Sirbiladze
"good enough" is never good enough
October 13—November 8, 2015
James Fuentes is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Tamuna Sirbiladze. Sirbiladze's paintings explore the mediated gap between expression and the subconcious. Made primarily with oilsticks and pastels on unprimed canvas, the works are at once performative, gestural, and serene. Her paintings fluctuated from representation to abstraction and possess enigmatic titles such as "like it hot", "salome" and "they made it because of the time". Through her deliberate obfuscation between idea and thing, Sirbiladze presents abstract portraits of the outside world.
